Jamie Sykes
With over 17 years of live performance and drum teaching experience, Jamie Sykes is a Contemporary drummer specialising in flow, improvisational skills, developing individual styles and introducing explorative rhythmic complexities such as metric modulation, linear writing and subdivisions. As the drummer for Ilke-ta, Major Ruse, Benjamin Luhis and various jazz and metal bands, Jamie has an expansive knowledge of drumming, composition and performance.
Joe Egan
Joe Egan is an incredible guitarist with a wealth of experience across many genres. Within both Major Ruse and the Joe Egan Trio, Joe regularly explores rock, jazz, folk, hip-hop and more, and works alongside many of Nottingham’s best musicians. Joe graduated from Leeds Conservatoire and completed a Masters in music, all whilst teaching all ages and abilities. Joe has incredible technical abilities, a passion towards rhythmic and melodic exploration and a multi-faceted and varied approach to the guitar.
Lucas Walters
Lucas Walters graduated from the University of Leeds with an honours degree in Music. He specialises in the teaching of Jazz Piano, and Jazz Music Theory. Lucas began playing piano at just 3 years old, and over time mastered his skills on the instrument whilst developing experience in both teaching and performing. He has been a part of many groups and bands, including the National youth Jazz Orchestra and the National youth Jazz Collective composed of some of the top young Jazz musicians in the country.
Andy Tytherleigh
Andy Tytherleigh is a bassist (both upright and electric), pianist and producer specialising in jazz, funk and classical music. He is currently part of Hubtone, a duo specialising in reworks of classic funk, soul, house and pop music, but has also had international acclaim with Schmoov and award-winning Oragamibiro. Andy has been teaching bass for over 20 years and has incredible compositional skills and groove, making lessons informative, inspiring and fun.
Rachael Johnson
Rachael Johnson is a pianist, composer and singer with many years of experience in both performing and teaching capacities. From regular solo shows and children’s performances to regular duo and trio shows with incredible musicians across the UK, Rachael is masterful in her technique and melodic ear. Rachael is able to seamlessly move between genres and prides herself on tailoring her lessons to each individual.
Gary Reader
Gary Reader is a saxophonist with a history of touring the world, bringing melodic and dynamic intricacies alongside an incredible rhythmic approach to audiences all over. Having been a teacher since 1990, Gary has an incredible ability to tailor lessons to the needs of individuals, and explore creative avenues in a fun and open way. Gary’s lessons allow for a holistic approach to learning, and with his wisdom and wealth of experience, he is a great addition to any music education environment.
Sam Beckingham
With many years of teaching, workshop leading and working within SEND environments, Sam Beckingham is a drum teacher and multi-instrumentalist with a passion for teaching and live performance. Having taught privately for over 10 years alongside working within school environments, Samuel’s rhythm theory is expansive and he has a great ability to break down beats and fills into bitesize chunks, walking students through patterns in a comfortable and easy way.
Lisa de'Ville
Lisa is a Vocal Coach, professional singer and songwriter with nineteen years’ experience as a Professional singing teacher and presently teaches across schools in Nottinghamshire. She is skilled at communicating with diverse learners of all ages and abilities; teaching various styles including Musical Theatre, Classical, Popular Music, Blues and Rock. Lisa has helped successful actors, musicians and songwriters as well as helping pupils prepare for Singing examinations, tests, and auditions. Lisa has a holistic approach to teaching and is a warm, friendly teacher.
Pedraum Agahi
Pedraum is a Guitarist/Arranger based in Nottingham that specializes in directing/arranging large jazz ensembles for singers. Having graduated from Leeds Conservatoire with First-Class Honours in Jazz Guitar, Pedraum has gone on to play iconic events such as Manchester Festival, as well as both Cheltenham and Leeds Jazz Festivals. Pedraum teaches guitar privately and in schools, tailoring lesson plans to the interests, learning styles, and abilities of each student. Pedraum has an infectious enthusiasm and vast knowledge to match.
Jonny Olley
Jonny Olley is a guitarist and singer songwriter based in Nottingham. Since graduating (UoN 2:1 Bachelor of Arts) he has devoted his working life to music. Grade 8 electric guitar, he specialises in teaching rock, pop, blues and songwriting. An accomplished writer, he also performs live regularly either with his function or original band. In 2019 he also won the national music competition ‘Open mic UK’ with his own composition. More recent works include playing guitar on a remixed version of the amillionsons record ‘mistiblu’ featuring Chaka Khan.
